Today I read Pamela Gordon’s Epicurus in Lycia.

It is an outstanding work with an even better bibliography.

Importantly for my purposes, Gordon argues [against the popular view] that Diogenes of Oenoanda’s fragment 52 “Letter to Mother” is neither a letter from Diogenes nor Epicurus, but a pseudonymous epistle in the philosophical tradition that answers common anti-Epicurean polemic.

This book is VERY expensive.  It’s less than 200 pages of text for $66 to $100, depending on where you can find it.  I don’t think that it is in print.

I’m buying one.
